CAT TREES / FINDING A SUPPLIER
How to find a cat tree manufacturer in China.
Find a cat tree manufacturer in China: shortlist roles, then run a buyer audit checklist before samples.

THE SHORT ANSWER
Search with the product and the role you need, then shortlist by company roles and a buyer factory-evaluation checklist: capacity evidence, QC process, report types you may request, sample rounds and packaging proofing. Send every shortlisted supplier the same written brief and compare answers before paying for samples.
Where buyers look
Common starting points are search engines, B2B marketplaces, trade fairs and referrals from other importers. Search with specific terms — the product, the role (manufacturer, OEM, private label) and the material or feature you need — rather than a generic product name, and note where each contact came from.
Check who you are dealing with
Ask each candidate which company manufactures, which company handles export and which issues the contract and invoice, and request the registered company details for each. Some suppliers combine a factory with a trading company; PRETTY, for example, has its own factory and a trading company for export coordination. What matters is that the roles for your order are clear.
Look for product-specific answers
A capable supplier asks about your model: dimensions, the material for each component, the finish, the packed configuration and the destination. Generic replies that repeat a catalogue or a single price without asking about the specification are a reason to slow down.
Ask to see the work, not just the photographs
Ask how the supplier will show the relevant production or development work, for example through a video call, photographs of a comparable component or a visit. Treat styled or concept images as design directions; they do not establish construction, stability or capacity.
Buyer factory-evaluation checklist
Use one table for every shortlisted factory. Capacity evidence: how they show they can run your product type without inventing a catalogue capacity number. QC process: written in-line and final checks, who records defects, and how a rejected piece is handled. Report types you may request: buyers commonly ask factories for product test reports from labs such as SGS, social-compliance paperwork such as BSCI, and FSC chain-of-custody documents when wood packaging rules apply—request dated copies tied to the factory or product rather than assuming a website badge is enough. Sample rounds: how many revision cycles are planned and how each is coded. Packaging proofing: a packed-set trial with marks and protection agreed before bulk.
Shortlist with one brief
Send two or three shortlisted suppliers the same written brief with quantities per model and finish. Compare the questions they raise, the quotation scope, carton data and sample terms. This turns the search into a like-for-like comparison before you pay for samples.
Keep the record for the order
Keep the brief version, the supplier’s answers, the quotation and the company details together. They become the basis for the sample, the approved revision and any repeat order.
| Check | Ask for | Review question |
|---|---|---|
| Company roles | Manufacturer, exporter and invoicing party | Are the roles for this order clear? |
| Capacity evidence | How they show capability for your product type | Is evidence specific, not a catalogue claim? |
| QC process | In-line and final checks, defect handling | Is the process written and reviewable? |
| Reports to request | SGS / BSCI / FSC paperwork buyers may ask for | Are dated copies tied to factory or product? |
| Sample rounds | Revision cycles and coding method | Is each round recorded before the next? |
| Pack proofing | Packed-set trial with marks and protection | Agreed before bulk? |
| Like-for-like brief | Same brief and quantities to each candidate | Can the answers be compared? |
