PRIVATE LABEL / LABELS
Private label labeling requirements checklist.
Private-label labeling checklist: barcode files, artwork freeze, compliance owner, packed-sample sign-off, carton marks.

THE SHORT ANSWER
Private-label labeling needs a written map covering brand labels, care marks, hangtags, barcode carriers and carton marks per style. Freeze artwork versions, name the compliance-text owner your importer confirms, and sign off placement on a packed sample before any mass print run.
Build a label map per style
List every label and tag: brand woven or printed labels, care labels, hangtags, stickers, barcode carriers and carton marks. Note the attachment point on apparel, neckwear, beds or cat-tree cartons. One map per style avoids “the same as last season” assumptions when trims differ.
Separate brand artwork from legal care text
Brand logos and collection names are your artwork package. Care, fibre or material statements and any destination warnings follow rules your importer or compliance advisor confirms for the market. Keep those two streams in the brief so sampling does not invent legal wording.
Approve placement on a packed sample and freeze artwork
A flat mock-up can hide fold lines, seam interference or carton scuffing. Review labels and barcodes on a packed sample the way retail or warehouse staff will see them. Photograph the approved placement with the revision code, then freeze artwork filenames so print runs cannot drift.
Coordinate carton marks with the packing list
Carton marks should repeat the codes used on the packing list: style, colour, size or model, quantity and any importer routing marks. Mixed assortments need marks that survive stacking and humidity on the voyage.
Confirm parties, barcodes and sealed sample before mass printing
PRETTY has its own factory and a trading company for export coordination. Ask who prints or attaches labels, who supplies barcode files, and which legal party is named on commercial documents. Keep a sealed labeled sample against the approved revision before bulk print. Label print runs and trim buys are confirmed per project—do not assume leftover labels from another brand order.
