THE BUYING ANSWER

Start with a clear definition.

Locate the artwork from stable seams or centre lines and define which part of the artwork is measured. A distance to the outermost motif may differ from a distance to its centre. Use the same rule on the sample and drawing.

The decision behind the detail.

Curved or gathered panels can change the visible result. Review the finished garment along with the flat placement dimensions.

PREPARE ONLY WHAT IS RELEVANT

Three details to bring.

Reference point
Choose the seam or centre line used for location.

Check together

  • Check orientation as well as position.
  • Use the same anchor in every size layout.
  • Review placement after any pattern revision.
