CAT TREES / PROCUREMENT
Cat tree materials: compare the whole model.
Use a cat tree sourcing checklist to compare model materials, assembly, replacement parts and carton data before a wholesale quotation or sample approval.

THE SHORT ANSWER
Compare cat trees using a model-specific specification: dimensions, component materials, connections, assembly, packing and the evidence behind any performance claim. Similar photographs can conceal different construction and shipping requirements.

REVIEW POINT 01
Give every component a reference.
List the base, supports, covered platforms and hideaway separately. Ask for the material and dimensions of each part rather than relying on the overall silhouette.
Name the material for each component
Ask which material is used for the base, platforms, posts and covering. A general description of the entire product may leave these differences unclear. Record finishes, attachment and any material changes against the exact model being reviewed.
Make assembly part of the purchase
Request a part list, hardware details and installation instructions for the proposed model. Check whether the instructions identify parts consistently and what tools are needed. Discuss how missing or damaged components would be identified and handled.
Request the basis of performance claims
If size suitability, load or stability is important, ask for the applicable model, conditions and evidence. Do not infer a product limit from a lifestyle photograph. Confirm the claim and its basis before including it in your own product listing.
Compare the carton as well as the product
Record the carton size, gross weight, pack count and protective materials. Packaging influences the information needed for transport quotes and warehouse handling. A complete shipment estimate also needs the destination and agreed trade terms.
What should go into a cat tree quotation request?
Keep the model reference, component schedule, quantity per finish, packed dimensions and destination together. If one quote omits hardware, instructions, protective packing or spare-part arrangements, ask for the missing scope before comparing totals. A model drawing and a complete packing record make the comparison more useful than matching photographs.
| Record | Include | Review question |
|---|---|---|
| Component schedule | Base, platforms, posts, covering and fixings | Is each material assigned to a named part? |
| Assembly review | Part codes, hardware and instructions | Can a missing part be identified without guessing? |
| Performance evidence | Model, method, conditions and result | Does the evidence apply to the proposed model? |
| Packed product | Carton dimensions, gross weight and pack count | Are the figures for the packed model being quoted? |
Common gaps in a buying brief.
Comparing photographs alone
Use the same specification fields for every model under review.
Using unpacked dimensions for freight
