PET APPAREL / PRIVATE LABEL
Private label dog clothes: how to start a brand.
Private label dog clothes explained: blank, white label, private label or custom OEM, and what to send a manufacturer before samples and a quotation.

THE SHORT ANSWER
Private label dog clothes are factory-made styles produced with your own labels, hangtags and packing; custom OEM also changes the pattern, fabric or trims. To start, choose a route, send a size and colour plan per style, approve a physical sample, then confirm MOQ and terms on the quotation.
Blank, white label, private label or custom OEM
Blank garments carry no brand. White label usually means a generic product that several sellers resell under their own names with few changes. Private label means the product is made for one brand: your woven label, size label, hangtag and packing. Custom OEM goes further and changes the pattern, fabric, colour or trims. Which route applies to a project, and what each costs, is confirmed on the quotation.
Start from a reference style
A reference style makes the first brief faster to review. PRETTY development references include D01 (grey dress with bow) and D02 (brown plaid dress with ruffles). Send the reference, the changes you want and any measurements you already use; the factory reviews what can be kept and what needs development.
Plan sizes and colours before the sample
Write a style × colour × size plan with the measurement points behind each size label. Size names alone (S, M, L) mean different things to different brands. Body measurements and finished garment measurements should be listed separately so the pattern maker knows the ease you expect.
Labels, hangtags and packing are part of the product
A private label order is not only the garment. List the brand label, size label, care information, hangtag, polybag or retail box, barcode stickers your sales channel requires, and carton marks. Missing one item late in production usually changes the schedule or the quotation.
Approve one sample, then quote the bulk
Approve a physical sample against the written brief and keep the approval record with the order. MOQ per style, sample terms and payment terms are confirmed on the quotation. For Amazon and DTC sellers, PRETTY focuses on mixed small-batch private label, so apparel, bandanas and beds can be planned in one brief.
| Route | What changes | What you send |
|---|---|---|
| Blank | Nothing; no brand on the product | Style, size and colour quantities |
| White label | Your name added to a generic product | Brand name artwork and packing needs |
| Private label | Labels, hangtags, packing and sometimes colour | Label map, packing list and colour references |
| Custom OEM | Pattern, fabric, trims or construction | Reference style, change list and measurements |
| Mixed small-batch private label | Several styles and categories in one plan | Quantity by style, colour and size |
