APPAREL / FIT
Pet apparel sizing: body to garment.
Prepare a pet apparel size chart for sampling and bulk orders. Separate body and garment measurements, define points and plan quantities by size.

THE SHORT ANSWER
A usable pet apparel size chart records units, measurement points and target body measurements separately from finished garment measurements. Add the style, sample revision and units per size. S, M and L labels alone do not define the fit or the production order.
VISUAL REVIEW / BEFORE A SAMPLE ORDER
A size label needs a measurement method.

REVIEW POINT 01
Body first. Neck opening second.
Record the agreed neck measurement point on the pet. Review the finished garment opening and closure separately; the two measurements are not interchangeable.
Start with measurement points
A label such as S or M does not explain where a garment has been measured. Record the neck, chest and back measurement points relevant to the style, and agree how the sample is laid out or positioned. Keep the same method when reviewing later samples.
Separate the body from the garment
Record the target body measurements in one column and finished garment measurements in another. This makes the intended space and fit a discussion that can be checked. Do not transfer the same numerical size chart between unrelated silhouettes without reviewing the construction.
Review the material alongside the fit
Ask for the material composition and discuss stretch, lining and construction at the neck, chest and arm openings. Appearance alone cannot establish stretch or fit. Any tolerance or washing requirement needs a defined measurement method and an agreed product specification.
Approve the version, not just the picture
Identify the style, colour, size and sample revision on the approval record. Note requested changes and confirm which revised version is being approved. Where a fitting or wash assessment is needed, record its method and result against that sample.
How should a size chart support a wholesale order?
Use one row per style, colour and size. Add the target body values, proposed garment values, quantity and sample revision. If a value has not been measured, leave it marked as open rather than copying another dress chart. For D01, identify collar, arm-opening and skirt measurement points; for D02, record the upper and contrasting skirt separately.
| Record | Keep separate | Review question |
|---|---|---|
| Neck, chest and back | Target body values and finished garment values | Are both parties measuring from the same points? |
| Size range | Size label, values and quantity for each size | Has each size been reviewed for this silhouette? |
| Material & construction | Fabric specification, openings and closure | Does the intended fit match the actual construction? |
| Sample revision | Version, requested changes and approval status | Which exact version will define the batch? |
