THE BUYING ANSWER

Start with a clear definition.

Mark the top of the pattern and the intended product orientation on every relevant panel. Include folds or reversible faces that change how the motif is seen. A fabric roll direction does not automatically describe the finished product's viewing direction.

The decision behind the detail.

Some panels turn during assembly or folding. Check the finished view instead of approving only the cutting diagram.

PREPARE ONLY WHAT IS RELEVANT

Three details to bring.

Pattern top
Mark the upright direction on the artwork or swatch.
Panel map
Identify the required orientation for each panel.
Finished arrangement
Show how the item will be viewed or folded.

Check together

  • Review directional motifs on both faces where applicable.
  • Check folds do not invert the main artwork.
  • Record deliberate orientation differences.
