THE BUYING ANSWER

Start with a clear definition.

Define the packing layers: individual presentation, inner grouping and shipping carton. Ask for the contents and counts at each layer to be identified. This avoids comparing a bare product quote with a fully branded retail pack.

The decision behind the detail.

Adding a rigid display pack may change carton use as well as unit packing. Review the complete packing arrangement before treating the extra charge as only an artwork cost.

PREPARE ONLY WHAT IS RELEVANT

Three details to bring.

Packing layers
Describe what surrounds the product at each stage.
Branding scope
List print, labels, inserts and artwork versions.
Count assumptions
Record units per inner pack and outer carton.

Check together

  • Compare the same packing counts across offers.
  • Request a packed example for the chosen option.
  • Keep optional presentation items separate from required protection.
